為人進出的門緊鎖著,
為狗爬出的洞敞開著,
一個聲音高叫著:
——爬出來吧,給你自由!

我渾身血污,
提著鐐銬,
踏著糞土,
走向自由的、大門。

死,
毫無所懼,
假如自由在召喚,
假如信仰在堅持,
那麼,
這死亡,
便是重生!

Song of Imprisonment

by Ye Ting

The gate for men’s passage is tightly barred,
While the hole for dogs to crawl through lies wide open.
A voice cries out:
—“Crawl out! Freedom will be yours!”

But I, with body stained in blood,
Chains on my hands,
Treading on filth,
Shall march toward the great gate of freedom.

Death—
I do not fear it,
So long as freedom calls,
So long as faith endures.
Then this death
Shall be rebirth!
