Flu Information and Vaccination

Anyone concerned about being ill with the flu and spreading it to others can get the seasonal flu vaccine. Because some people have an increased risk in getting the flu or complications from the flu, vaccination is important for them. You can get the flu vaccine as a shot (needle form) or as a nasal spray (mist). Vaccination for the seasonal flu is especially important for people in the following categories:
· Pregnant women
· All health care workers
· Anyone 6 months through 18 years of age
· Anyone 10-49 year s of age who has an underlying health condition that increases the risk of complications from the flu (diabetes, lung disease including asthma, heart disease, sickle cell, HIV or cancer patients)
· Adults 50 and older
· People in nursing homes or long term care facilities
· Anyone who lives with or cares for infants under 6 months of age.
Where can I get a flu vaccine?
· Your own family doctor or primary care facility
· Many pharmacies
· No cost or low cost clinics offered by the Health Dept run by the city:
