纽约市本土作家Susan Sontag的这句话很适合旅游社作广告用。Sontag (1933-2004) was a Jewish-American writer, film-maker, teacher, and political activist, born and died in NYC.

出曼哈顿过荷兰隧道向西走进入New Jersey。荷蘭隧道（Holland Tunnel）是紐約市的著名隧道，穿越哈德遜河下連接紐約市的曼哈頓與紐澤西州的澤西市，並隧道上面載有78號州際高速公路。紐約市仅有兩條穿越哈德遜河下的隧道，另一條隧道為林肯隧道。荷蘭隧道历史悠久，最初的名稱是哈德遜河車行隧道（Hudson River Vehicular Tunnel）也叫運河街隧道（Canal Street Tunnel）。在1920年開工並在1927年完工通車，其名稱以在完工前已去世的隧道設計师克里夫·密爾本·荷蘭（Clifford Milburn Holland）的姓氏命名，以茲紀念。荷蘭隧道是最初幾個開始使用通氣塔設計的隧道之一。這些通氣塔以直徑24米（80英尺）的風扇與通風道為隧道內的車輛提供新鮮空氣，這項設計是為了應對当时已经开始大量使用汽車所導致的大量廢氣，使得隧道內的廢氣得以排出。

司机姓真，技术很棒。他自我介绍说，其父是解放军汽车兵，对他训练很严。据他说，纵横公司有几十辆这样的Mercedes Benz面包车。

The Jefferson Memorial is a presidential memorial in Washington, D.C., dedicated to Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826), one of the most important of the American Founding Fathers as the main drafter and writer of the Declaration of Independence, member of the Continental Congress, governor of the newly independent Commonwealth of Virginia, American minister to King Louis XVI and the Kingdom of France, first U.S. Secretary of State under the first President George Washington, the second Vice President of the United States under second President John Adams, and also the third President (1801–1809), as well as being the founder of the University of Virginia at Charlottesville, Virginia. The neoclassical Memorial building on the Tidal Basin off the Washington Channel of the Potomac River was designed by the architect John Russell Pope and built by the Philadelphia contractor John McShain. Construction of the building began in 1939 and was completed in 1943. The bronze statue of Jefferson was added in 1947.

Washington Monument, built to honor George Washington, the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army and the first President of the United States, the Washington Monument was once the tallest building in the world at just over 555 feet. The monument to America's first president still holds the title of world's tallest stone structure and obelisk. It is maintained by the National Park Service, the Washington Monument is located on the center of the National Mall between the U.S. Capitol and Lincoln Memorial. The easiest way to get to the monument is by taking the Metro. The two closest Metro stops are Federal Triangle and Smithsonian, both on the Blue, Orange and Silver lines.

从船上遥看Washington Monument

The Washington Channel is a channel that parallels the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. It is located between the Southwest Waterfront on the east side and East Potomac Park on the west side. The channel is two miles long, receives outflow from the Tidal Basin at its north end, and empties into the Anacostia River at Hains Point at its south end. The channel's depth ranges from 8.8 feet (2.7 m) to 23 feet (7.0 m). The Washington Channel's east bank is lined with restaurants, inns, and marinas including Washington Marina, Gangplank Marina (the only liveaboard marina in the District of Columbia), and Capital Yacht Club. The Maine Avenue Fish Market is situated at the north end of the channel, south of the 14th Street Bridge complex. The Women's Titanic Memorial, Fort Lesley J. McNair, the National Defense University, and James Creek Marina are located near the south end of the channel. As of August 2010, the USS Sequoia—a former United States presidential yacht—is docked at a pier in the Washington Channel.
