Making Progress on Community Policing

Launching the Police Data Initiative

President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden meet with rank-and-file law enforcement officials from across the country in the Oval Office, Feb. 24, 2015. They discussed how communities and law enforcement can work together to build trust to ensure public safety and strengthen neighborhoods. President Obama is in Camden, New Jersey today to talk about the promising progress the city is making in building trust between law enforcement and the community. That progress includes capitalizing on the Police Data Initiative to use smarter, more data-driven ways of improving community policing efforts and reducing uses of force.
