Emergency Preparedness: Prepare, Respond, Recover
September is National Preparedness Month, which is a nationwide campaign to promote emergency preparedness and encourage volunteerism. Regardless of the type of emergency, it is important to make sure that you, your family, your workplace, and community are prepared.
The NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) has recently revamped its Emergency Preparedness Website. You will find information for the general public, healthcare providers, community organizations, and public health preparedness planners, including resources to help providers and hospitals train for disasters and plan for emergencies.
Our Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), with almost 6,000 volunteers, welcomes a variety of health professionals who want to train and prepare to volunteer their services in an emergency. If you are a healthcare professional, you can sign up here!
Please take few minutes to look through our new site. Have suggestions? E-mail us at phprep@health.nyc.gov.
