DiNapoli: State Tax Revenue Short of Targets
Tax revenue through the first six months of the state’s fiscal year was 0.2 percent lower than last year and $213 million short of projections, according to a mid–year state revenue analysis released Friday by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. Collections would have to grow 6.4 percent for the remainder of the year to make up for the lower–than–expected revenue thus far.
DiNapoli: Abuse Uncovered at SUNY Research Foundation
A wide–ranging audit released Monday by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli uncovered numerous cases of abuse of taxpayer dollars at the SUNY Research Foundation over a number of years. Auditors found improper credit card use, conflicts of interest related to contracts and overpayment of a senior counsel, among other problems.
DiNapoli: Suffolk Highest Grossing County For Agricultural Sales In State
Agricultural production on Long Island reached nearly $260 million in annual revenue, according to a report released Tuesday by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. “Long Island’s agricultural industry and wineries generate much needed economic activity and provide a bountiful harvest for local consumption,” said DiNapoli. “Visitors who travel to the Island for its fall festivals and winery tours also frequent nearby restaurants and shops, helping sustain many small businesses. These industries create jobs and stimulate spending in local communities to the benefit to all New Yorkers.”
Report: Soaring Health Care Costs Highlight Need To Address Childhood Obesity
New York State is facing a growing obesity problem that costs nearly $12 billion a year, New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli said in a speech Wednesday to the Association of New York State Youth Bureaus. DiNapoli urged state leaders and the state Department of Health to work together to identify strategies to tackle this problem. DiNapoli also released a report on childhood obesity and its growing costs to New York State, coinciding with the second annual National Food Day.

Newburgh officials failed to accurately track the city’s budget which led to millions of dollars in shortfalls and a higher than necessary tax hike for residents, according to an audit released Thursday by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.
