Comptroller DiNapoli and A.G. Schneiderman Announce Indictment of NYC Councilman Ruben Wills in Public Corruption Scheme

New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli and New York State Attorney General Eric T. SchneidermanWednesday announced the indictment of New York City Council Member Ruben Wills for allegedly pocketing both public campaign funds and charitable grant money for personal benefit. Mr. Wills and a member of his family that he enlisted as a co-conspirator have been indicted by a Queens grand jury after an investigation exposed the theft of approximately $30,000 and a subsequent attempt by the Councilman to cover their tracks.

DiNapoli: Positive Fiscal Outlook for Plattsburgh

A steady population, an expanding tax base and a diverse economy have helped establish a stable financial foundation for the city of Plattsburgh, according to a report issued Wednesday by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. The report is part of DiNapoli’s fiscal stress initiative and is the latest in a series of fiscal profiles on municipalities across the state.

Comptroller DiNapoli and A.G. Schneiderman Announce Guilty Plea by Former Met Council CFO in $9M Kickback Scheme

New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli and New York State Attorney General Eric T. SchneidermanTuesday announced the guilty plea of Herbert Friedman, former chief financial officer of the Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty (Met Council). Friedman pleaded guilty to felony Grand Larceny and Conspiracy charges for facilitating the theft of $9 million from the taxpayer-funded nonprofit organization in a 20-year grand larceny and kickback scheme.
