Mr. Wills and a member of his family that he enlisted as a co-conspirator have been indicted by a Queens grand jury after an investigation exposed the theft of approximately $30,000 and a subsequent attempt by the Councilman to cover their tracks.

SchneidermanTuesday announced the guilty plea of Herbert Friedman, former chief financial officer of the Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty (Met Council). Friedman pleaded guilty to felony Grand Larceny and Conspiracy charges for facilitating the theft of $9 million from the taxpayer-funded nonprofit organization in a 20-year grand larceny and kickback scheme.
