DiNapoli: State Pension Fund Reaches Record High of $176.2 Billion
New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli announced Monday an estimated 13.02 percent rate of return for the New York State Common Retirement Fund now valued at an estimated $176.2 billion, the highest amount ever, for fiscal year ending March 31, 2014.
DiNapoli Expands Anti-Corruption Initiative
State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli Monday announced that he has expanded his anti-public corruption initiative and created a new Division of Investigations to build on efforts which resulted in 30 arrests and the restitution of $3 million last year. The division will be headed by Deputy Comptroller and Counsel for Investigations Nelson Sheingold.
DiNapoli: Job Gains Slow for IDA-Supported Projects
New York’s Industrial Development Agencies (IDAs) supported more than 4,500 projects and provided $554 million in net tax exemptions in 2012, but estimated job gains were 2,400 lower than the previous year, according to a report issued Tuesday by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. This is DiNapoli’s seventh annual report examining the performance of the state’s IDAs.
DiNapoli: Town of Altona Official Misused $23,500
The former bookkeeper in the town of Altona in Clinton County altered cash receipts in order to embezzle $23,500 in public funds, according to an audit and investigation released Thursday by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.
DiNapoli Releases Year-End and April Cash Reports
Tax collections in April were more than $1 billion, or 17 percent lower, than comparable receipts a year ago, but $86.8 million higher than the projections included in the Enacted Budget Financial Plan released earlier this month, according to the April Cash Report released Friday by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. The year-over-year decrease, sharper than expected, was primarily in Personal Income Tax collections, where a number of states experienced unexpected declines in April as most taxpayers settled tax liabilities for 2013.
DiNapoli Announces State Contract & Payment Actions for April 2014
State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli announced Friday his office reviewed 1,422 contracts valued at $1 billion and approved more than 4.5 million payments worth nearly $8.5 billion in April. His office also rejected 119 contracts and related transactions valued at $90 million and nearly 4,600 payments valued at more than $7.8 million due to fraud, waste or improprieties.
