贺新（曾用名：贺曼莉）
1965年自南开大学毕业后分配到北京语言学院（现北京语言大学）外语系任英语教授。
自1971年调至北京外交人员服务局，之后一直工作在外交战线上。曾先后在赞比亚驻华大使馆、美国驻华大使馆、加拿大驻华大使馆工作。并曾多次由外交部借调赴外工作：1974年赴中国驻新西兰大使馆工作, 期间参与了中国与巴布亚新几内亚建立外交关系的谈判工作，并陪同大使亲赴巴新递交国书，见证了中国与巴布亚新几内亚建交的历史时刻; 1987年赴中国驻加拿大大使馆工作，先后任二等秘书，一等秘书; 1991 年赴中国驻美国大使馆担任一等秘书。
在美国驻华大使馆担任大使秘书工作期间，曾协助接待过里根总统，老布什总统和许多美国政要的访华工作。
我在赞比亚驻华大使馆工作期间，协助接待並陪同赞比亚总统卡翁达访华的工作，参加了周恩來总理为卡翁达总统举行的文艺演出晚会，並陪同卡翁达上台献花，周总理也一起上台献花了，见到了敬爱的周总理，我在有些场合还当翻译了。
在加拿大驻华大使馆文化处工作期间负责中加文化教育交流。帮助中国社会科学院，北京大学，南开大学等国内十几所大学建立了加拿大研究中心。因工作成绩突出，于2000年5月被授予由国际加拿大研究会颁发的“促进加拿大研究成就奖”。

賀新：我退休时加拿大大使还专门给我写了一封书面的信对我的工作给予充分的肯定，並用镜框裱装好了，还送我一个小礼物，表心意，他的秘书曾问我是否能留下來工作我说了我身体不好需要休养生息。
李明德：
你在加拿大使馆做了大量工作，不仅担任大使和参赞的翻译，更对使馆对我国的加拿大研究大力支持，作出了突出贡献。加方为你颁奖是对你工作的极大肯定，荣耀至极。我们社科院加拿大研究中心不仅发表了多篇论文，还出版了多部文集，当时加使馆给予我们很大的经费资助。
贺新：
后来发展到二十多个加拿大研究中心，大使曾要求我去当他的翻译我没去，但是他出场的时候老要我去给他当翻译，我几次表示不想去，但硬要我去做翻译，我觉得太累了。但使舘的有关外交官想让我再多出力，所以我唯一的办法不让休息一段时间我就退休。我不想和进生一样死在工作岗位上。等我病倒了就没有人管我了。
贺新：
能领到加拿大国际研究奖的人没几个。
李明德：
又有一幅在加使馆的照片，加使馆新文化参赞、唐闻生和我。我与唐1972年7月一起为周总理做翻译，此次接见3个多小时，时间很长，开始我翻，后我有些紧张，开始有些吃力，乔冠华请唐接替了我。此后我与唐多个场合一起，熟悉了。
贺新：
唐闻生也是我们的常客，所以我也跟她较熟。
贺新：
进生在1994年3月去世后，服务局5月初让我去加拿大驻华大使馆文化处工作，我见了Richard king，他一见我之后就让我在那儿工作，我要求他不要录取我，我说我想要休息因为我爱人刚去世，我要休息一段时间，然而他不断地用各种理由劝我上班，到十一月时加拿大总理要來访问，让我陪同访问做各种工作，因为他己经了解过我的经验和经历。后来我才知道他们从美国中央情报局了解了我的情况。我们到美国任职时美国中央情报局的人向杨进生说明白了他们有我的档案资料和照片等等，我想肯定也有你的档案。
李明德：
美方对中国人的档案一是可公开，如提供给记者、接待单位及任何需要的人，二是内部掌握，不公开。72年我们访美时，并未提供简历，但记者告我，他们知道我的毕业院校、专业、我的特点爱好等。对副团长白介夫解放前在根据地从事新华社记者工作，有关文章，现真实党政工作等均了解。对钱伟长如何打成“右派”及他的言论，文革中贴他的大字报基本内容等均有。对胡世全是造反派头头，在上海任科委领导，是全国党代会主席团成员等材料均有，我还是从美方获悉他的这些背景，我原还不理解为何让这个年轻人参加如此重要的第一个访美团，文革前刚工作不久，他又不是胰岛素人工合成的主要参与者，文革一结束他便被审查。
贺新：
我 在美国驻华使馆当美国 大使翻译 兼秘书时，美方除了解我的情况之外，也了解杨进生的情况。所以美国中央情报局是很厉害的。不知道现在是否己经把我们的档案消除了，听说要保持50年才能撤，随他去吧
贺新：
我 在驻美大使馆工作时的第三任大使洛德的夫人鲍柏依到任时见我第一面就开口叫我MS·He，我惊讶不已， 后来才知道她原来在中央情报局看过我的档案和照片。
贺新：
不过我到驻美大使馆 工作时也任朱启祯大使秘书和起草一些书信等工作，我只是一等秘书，专门负责与那些在中国工作过的大使和外交官联系，他们那时在美国国务院和白宫等各个部门工作，起了不少作用。
李明德：
我在驻美使馆时，是韩叙大使在任，我们在国内时便熟悉，他在美熟人很多，与老布什总统关系密切，新年常请他带小布什（后任总统）到大使官邸吃烤鸭。当时杨洁篪是韩叙翻译，他夫人乐爱妹是韩叙秘书，我们两家关系不错。后朱启祯任大使，他好像太谨慎，一次“桥牌女皇”杨小燕邀我们夫妇参加美国会一些议员晚间聚会，我建议杨也能邀请朱大使，朱前往后，我陪他，他一晚无话。我很不理解。杨小燕是美国会议员桥牌教练，80年代初杨小燕被邀与小平和万里打桥牌，还请她培训中国桥牌队，我国队水平提高很大。
李明德：
使馆科技处参赞只能由国家科委（现科技部）的人担任，我来自中科院，是一秘，担任了两任代理参赞。回国后任社科院外事局副局长，96年任美国所和拉美所联合党委书记兼拉美所所长。

Elizabeth I (7 September 1533 – 24 March 1603) was Queen of England and Queen of Ireland from 17 November 1558 until her death. Sometimes called the Virgin Queen, Gloriana, or Good Queen Bess, Elizabeth was the fifth and last monarch of the Tudor dynasty. The daughter of Henry VIII, she was born a princess, but her mother, Anne Boleyn, was executed three years after her birth, and Elizabeth was declared illegitimate. Her brother, Edward VI, cut her out of the succession. His will was set aside, and in 1558 Elizabeth succeeded her half-sister, the Catholic Mary I, during whose reign she had been imprisoned for nearly a year on suspicion of supporting Protestant rebels.
One of Elizabeth's first moves as queen was to support the establishment of an English Protestant church, of which she became the Supreme Governor. This Elizabethan Religious Settlement held firm throughout her reign and later evolved into today's Church of England. It was expected that Elizabeth would marry, but despite several petitions from parliament, she never did. The reasons for this choice are unknown, and they have been much debated. As she grew older, Elizabeth became famous for her virginity, and a cult grew up around her which was celebrated in the portraits, pageants, and literature of the day.
In government, Elizabeth was more moderate than her father and siblings. One of her mottoes was "video et taceo" ("I see, and say nothing"). This strategy, viewed with impatience by her counsellors, often saved her from political and marital misalliances. Though Elizabeth was cautious in foreign affairs, the defeat of the Spanish armada in 1588 associated her name forever with what is popularly viewed as one of the greatest victories in English history. Within 20 years of her death, she was being celebrated as the ruler of a golden age, an image that retains its hold on the English people. Elizabeth's reign is known as the Elizabethan era, famous above all for the flourishing of English drama, led by playwrights such as William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe, and for the seafaring prowess of English adventurers.
