Zi Lu asked, “May I dare to ask whether there is a way to maintain fullness?” Confucius replied, “With brilliance and wisdom, one guards it with simplicity; with achievements that benefit the world, one guards them with humility; with courage and strength that shake the age, one guards them with caution; with wealth that fills the four seas, one guards it with modesty. This is what is called the way of diminishing and diminishing again.”
