【註】1919年3月，周恩来为了中国的反帝反封建大业，毅然决定放弃继续在日本求学，归国加入革命。此诗正是他回国前夕，书赠为他饯行的同窗好友张鸿诰等人的。同時周恩来还写道：“想起从小儿到今，真是一无所成，光阴白过。既无脸见死去的父母于地下，又对不起现在爱我教我照顾我的几位伯父、师长、朋友；若大着说，什么国家、社会，更是没有尽一点力了。俗语说得好：‘人要有志气’。”

In March 1919, for the great cause of opposing imperialism and feudalism in China, Zhou Enlai resolutely decided to give up further studies in Japan, return to his homeland, and join the revolution. This poem was written for his classmates and close friends such as Zhang Honggao, who held a farewell dinner on the eve of his return.

At the same time, Zhou Enlai also wrote: “Thinking back from childhood until now, I have truly accomplished nothing, letting the years slip away in vain. I have no face to meet my deceased parents in the netherworld, nor have I lived up to the uncles, teachers, and friends who love me, teach me, and care for me now. To speak more broadly, I have contributed nothing to my country and society. As the saying goes: ‘A person must have aspiration.’”
