Grace Lin Will Live in Our Memory Forever (6/9/2012)
In the afternoon of May 20th, 2012, Ms Lin Ge (Grace), senior international language librarian in Queens Library for 14 years, lost consciousness and fell. She was rushed to the hospital, but she did not wake up. Grace left us forever on May 21st, 2012, at age 57.
On Saturday, June 9, 2012, a memorial service was held in Grace’s honor at the Frederick Funeral Home in Queens, New York City. Over 100 people attended the memorial service, including Mr. Nick Buron, CLS director of the Queens Library and Mr. Fred Gitner, Assistant Director for New Americans Program & International Relations, Grace's colleagues and friends in NYC; Class 1977 alumni of the English Department, Guangzhou Institute of Foreign Languages, residing in the east coast area of the United States (原广州外语学院英语系77届在美东的校友) attended the memorial on behalf of all their classmates both in China and abroad. More than 10 of her colleagues, classmates and friends, spoke at the ceremony expressing their condolence to her husband and relatives, recalling her wonderful life and work, expressing their gratitude for all Grace did for the Queens Library and everyone she knew. With tears Michael sang "The Pink Trees" to the tune of "The Olive Tree", Grace's favorite.
